Apple's gearing up for a big makeover of the user interface with "iOS 26," rolling out a fresh new look called "Liquid Glass."
This update will bring in shiny and see-through elements to the operating system, giving a unified feel across all Apple platforms like iOS, iPadOS, macOS, visionOS, tvOS, and CarPlay. Word is that Apple plans to show off this cool new design at their Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) tomorrow, as per a report from Bloomberg that's been checked out by Al Arabiya Business.
This redesign is the biggest shift in how the user interface looks since they introduced the flat design with iOS 7. The "Liquid Glass" style breaks away from the plain visual traits, instead offering layered surfaces that look like glass. This approach aims to bring in some shine and depth to toolbars, controls, and app layouts, creating a richer and more seamless visual vibe across all devices.
Plus, the "Liquid Glass" interface isn't just about looks; Apple plans to use it as a foundation for a brand-new iPhone that's expected to launch in 2027, right in time for the 20th anniversary of the first iPhone. Internally, this device is called "Glasswing," and it's set to have curved glass edges, almost invisible borders, and a flawless display with no cutouts.
This new design is also a smart move for Apple as it faces growing challenges in the AI space. While companies like OpenAI and Google are pushing forward with AI-driven platforms, Apple is focusing on honing its operating systems to keep its charm and uniqueness in the market.
